In the Gnostic Gospels, there is this concept called the Garment of Light that is our authentic attire, embroidered inside with our true name, and when we sound that name, we know who we are. When we wear our Garment of Light, the darkness cannot see us.

 "And the light shineth in the darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not." 

The eternal realm is closer than we can imagine. In fact, it is everywhere, but we need faithful eyes to see. I have come to understand that it is not only human souls who have a Garment of Light, but places too, and this region in the South of France is one of them. Known as the Refuge of the Apocalypse, this week-long retreat will introduce us to the concept of "Thin Places" taken from the Celtic tradition. Thin places are places of energy. A place where the veil between this world and the eternal world is thin. A thin place is where one can walk in two worlds – the worlds are fused together, knitted loosely where the differences can be discerned or tightly where the two worlds become one. 

When we face trials, eternity becomes closer.

Being the creator of Mary Magdalene's Audio Guide to the South of France, we will be following in her footsteps. This retreat will no doubt be full of fun, laughter, and wonder, but it will also have a sober tone, considering our times. Thin Places are where we find Truth. Naked, raw, and hard to face Truth. Yet, we also find comfort, safety and the strength to face that Truth in those same mystical spaces. Thin places captivate our imagination yet diminish our existence. We become very small, yet we gain connection and become part of something larger than we can perceive. The human spirit is awakened and will grow if the body and mind allow it. Simply put, a thin place is where one feels that mysterious power and that the mysterious power is God.
